Abstract/Summary:
 
Energy independence is the biggest freedom a country should have. India can achieve this in the power sector by giving importance to the renewable energy. Especially the recent development is found to be much more promising for the solar photovoltaic means of power generation through various initiatives by government policies, public-private-partnerships and investments. This paper presents the perspectives and insights of solar photovoltaic systems in India by analyzing information reported in various literatures, government and International agencies.
