Abstract/Summary:

The energy efficiency aims of the German government lead to a further extension of renewable energies and especially photovoltaic energy in low voltage grids. Furthermore the National platform electro mobility has set up the German electro mobility strategy. Until 2050 an amount of 40.000.000 Electric vehicles shall exist. The result is an energy supply which will be volatile on its generation and consumption side. Superior effects are the decreasing of the security of supply (if fossil power plants are substituted one by one by renewable power plants) as well as the generation of big amounts of surplus energy from renewable in times with a low demand for energy. Inferior effects are occurring voltage stability problems in 400V low voltage grids as well as transformer overload problems resulting from high amounts of time synchronous charging Electric vehicles. In this paper strategies for stabilizing the 400V low voltage grids are analyzed and compared.
