Energy systems worldwide are entering a phase of transformation, with the rapid growth and development in renewable energy and technologies. Thanks to the rapid and continuous price reduction of photovoltaic (PV) systems, especially module prices, contributing to the record-breaking low LCOE, PV has reached the competitive level for further market deployment. Due to the limitation of the cost reduction potential in PV module manufacturing and the rising costs of long-term energy security, there has been increasing pressure justify the need for sustainable value chains of PV technologies.
