In Japan, Feed-in Tariff system was started from last July. The bought price is about 2 times as large as a normal electricity rate. However it is still important to improve efficiency of large-scale photovoltaic (LSPV) systems in order to return high investment as soon as possible. About 2MW PV system was constructed and tested in Hokuto to verify grid stabilization with a large-scale PV system. In order to connect it to an existing extra-high voltage AC grid effectively and operate stably, a 400kW large-scale power conditioner (LS-PCS) with the functions, which were voltage fluctuation suppression, harmonics current suppression, and fault-ride-through function, were developed. In the verification tests, a modification of key control systems of the LS-PCS was carried out to get PV generation power with high efficiency. In the paper, we clarified a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control method to get more PV energy efficiently. The verification test results of grid stabilization systems and PV modules and systems in Hokuto mega-solar system were also shown and discussed.
