Abstract/Summary:


A specific diagnosis and Test-To-Failure protocol has been defined and applied to different PV modules that developed an early yellowing after being installed in the field during less than 2 years. The study has been done by using comparison with modules of the same manufacturer that were installed in same circumstances and did not show the yellowing defect. After an initial characterization of a high number of yellowed and notyellowed modules, the analysis of the evolution, mostly with added doses of damp heat, has allowed identifying the potential risk of failure in the field associated to the yellowing effect of those modules. The main diagnosis tests of the IEC61215 Standard have been applied for intermediate characterization of the modules, as well as the electroluminescence technique. Finally, a layer by layer analysis has been performed to some modules to confirm the results obtained.
