Abstract/Summary:


We compare to each other the two models for Lambertian light trapping available in the literature with respect to their consistency with the Basore electro-optical model for textured Si solar cells and measured data of quantum efficiency, IQE. To this aim, measured IQE-data of two actual devices are used in the Basore model at nearbandgap wavelengths to determine values for internal rear reflectance to be used in the simulation program PC1D to fit the same IQE-data at all wavelengths. In the calculations, the mean optical propagation angles are assigned values calculated with the aforementioned models for Lambertian light trapping. A third optical model is taken into account, which can be simulated in PC1D as well.
