In this paper, results of a comparative study of the optical, structural and morphological properties of thin films of CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPbI3) prepared by different techniques based on growth methods both in solution and thermal evaporation are reported. The main emphasis was placed on comparing the effect that growth methods of the MAPbI3 compound, such as spin coating in one stage, evaporation of lead iodide (PbI2) followed by dipping in a solution of methylamine iodide (MAI) and conventional thermal evaporation of PbI2 followed by evaporation of MAI by the CSS (close spaced sublimation) method, produces on morphology, structure, microstructure and on the optical constants. The three synthesis methods we have used, allow growing thin films of MAPbI3 free of secondary phases with perovskita type tetragonal structure; however, characterization carried out through photoluminescence (PL), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Urbach energy measurements allowed to find clear evidence that MAPBI3 films prepared by sequentially evaporating PbI2 and MAI grow with better morphology and structural ordering.
