Abstract/Summary:


ENEA with PIRELLI Labs and TELECOM Italia started one year ago an experimental activity at the aim to perform the potential solar electricity from fixed and two-axis tracking PV system. An experimental assessment of different PV installations and technologies too, a-Si and c-Si PV-flat systems, c-Si PV double axis tracking system, and innovative C-PV technologies, has been performed in order to compare the performance in operating conditions in the Mediterranean region. At this time a test site, located in Barra, near Naples’s urban area, equipped with four different PV plants of about 1 kWp each one has been realised. The field trial has been monitored for one year and a suitable data acquisition system has been developed. The purpose of this paper is to report the main energetic performances index for each PV plant and the results of the technical and economical comparative analysis among the aforesaid different technologies in order to advise, especially for the Mediterranean area, the best solutionin terms of PV cost reduction and its energy production maximization.
