Abstract/Summary:


To guarantee both quality and security of the Spanish electrical supply, Red Eléctrica de España, S.A. (REE) requires real-time communication with the energy generating facilities, enabling it to know at all times their conditions and variables of the functioning. This way it can distribute the required instructions about the production conditions of energy. For the mentioned agreement between REE and the electricity generators to be safe and efficient, and from the time of publication of the Royal Decree 1565/2010, it is obligatory for all the renewable sources installations their integration (or affiliation) to the designated Generation Control Centres. The aim of this paper is to develop the adaptability of Spanish solar photovoltaic installations to fulfil the technical requirements of inscription to a Generation Control Centre. The benefits brought by the implementation of this technology would include taking advantage of this system of continuous and centrally monitoring of every installation, optimising the resources, reducing operating and maintenance costs and improving the quality of electric energy delivered to the distribution grid.
