Abstract/Summary:


Sequential deposition (spin coating and dipping) of CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite films was applied on commercial fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) covered with mesoporous TiO2, with different thickness, under open-air conditions and high relative humidity (above 60%). In these extreme conditions, all working parameters, such as spinning rate, dipping time, heating and rinsing procedure are critical. Substrate coverage and surface morphology were investigated by scanning electron microscopy imaging and cross sections were milled by focused ion beam in order to evaluate the thickness of the perovskite films. Solar cells were completed in a configuration without hole transport material by evaporating gold as back contact directly onto the perovskite surface and their photovoltaic performance was evaluated. Results show that, by using a low-boiling-point solvent like pentane in the rinsing step, it is possible to deposit uniform and stable perovskite films even under high humidity.
