This paper identifies and analyses relevant issues involving the different stages of the aerial thermography inspection in utility-scale plants: flight plan, flight operation, analysis of radiometric information and the final ground level inspection. The document also proposes guidelines and considerations to have into account to perform aerial thermography with high quality results. The proposed procedures allow detection of hot spots of high and medium severity with inspection rates of 18 MW/day in tracker facilities and 27 MW/day in facilities with fixed structure. Furthermore, the paper includes the comparative analysis detecting hot spots by ground level and aerial thermography.
