Abstract/Summary:


We insert the expression of Gee for internal front reflectance at Lambertian optics into an expression for sub-bandgap rear reflectance, B, obtained from the expression for sub-bandgap total reflectance of Basore. In the Basore expression, free-carrier absorption (FCA) can be included. If FCA is included, then B is calculated for intrinsic Si. If FCA is not included, then B is calculated for doped Si. We calculate curves for B vs. wavelength in two reported textures cells with Al rear reflector. In both devices, B-curves including FCA agree at sub-bandgap wavelengths with the Al-reflectance curve as calculated using the Fresnel equations.
