Abstract/Summary:


This paper presents effects and influences due to shading on solar panels installed as part of a solar system at a residential house in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa. Design considerations include the choice of inverter, solar panels as well as the arrangement and mounting of the solar panels. Results presented illustrate the effect of the shading for different scenarios from winter to summer conditions. Emphasis is placed on the difference of the solar path of the sun, resulting in different shading conditions. These results are in the form of data captured for electricity generation by the solar array, and graphical representation thereof.
