ENEA in collaboration with KANEKA is continuing a survey of a-Si based thin film modules PV plants in order to test and compare their operational performance over long time of exposure. Two plants of about 1 kWp have been monitored, in detail an amorphous a-Si modules (named ASI) plant is under test since 2002, while a micromorph a-Si/μc-Si modules (named HB) one since 2006. The aim is to evaluate the reliability of the PV modules. Both the energy conversion efficiency over long working periods and the performances under hard marine environment conditions are parameters under investigation. A quantitative analysis based on collected data is carried out to evaluate the PV arrays degradation rates.
