The use in a PV module of new reflective structures (patent pending), for the collection of the incident radiation in the gaps between cells and module edges, increases module annual production and total area efficiency and so reduces both module and BOS cost per Wp. Thanks to the high radiation recovery probability of the structures, there is an increase in the annual production density (kWh/m2/year ratio) and STC efficiency, with respect to a module without structures, at least in the range 2,1-5% (compared to modules with white, black, transparent, backsheets and squared or quasi-squared cells). This recovery probability of structures it's virtually independent from orientation/tilt of module or installation site, just as with usual backsheets. Also provides other advantages, e.g. reduced stress on the cell exerted by ribbons, less Ag consumption, improved aesthetic.
