Since 2017, many potential reflective materials have been tested in EDF R&D PV Test Zone in order to quantify their albedo. This testing approach enables to evaluate, in addition to the reflective performance and variation over time of each material, the degradation aspects and the O&M related issues. Some relevant solutions have been installed afterwards under bifacial modules to assess the bifacial gain enhancement by the improved albedo. To maximize the yield and LCOE achievable gain with the albedo boost material for a bifacial PV plant, a modelling approach have been established aiming at defining an optimized positioning and sizing for the reflective materials by evaluating the bifacial gain and yield for each design.
