Abstract/Summary:


This work concerns the design, optical performance evaluation, and optimization of a two-stage Micro photovoltaic concentrator (MCPV). The studied MCPV system is based on the use of a Plano-convex lens as a primary optical element, to improve the optical efficiency by suppressing the draft angles and facet corner losses generally produced by the Fresnel lens, associated to a dome lens as a secondary optical element, which homogenizes the irradiance distribution on the cell and improves the acceptance angle. Damped least square method was used to optimize the system in terms of its optical efficiency, its acceptance angle as well as the distribution of illumination irradiance on the solar cell.
