Abstract/Summary:


In order to detect the arrival of Saharan air mass invasions, which affect the yield of PV installations, The Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables, S.A. (Technological Institute for the Renewable Energies, S.A.) has developed and put in operation an Air Quality Measurement System, based on the implementation of low-cost optical sensors, which has been integrated to the automated SCADA system that ensures the correct performance of its multi-MW PV facilities. The present paper summarizes the technical aspects related to the design and commissioning of such device, along with the troubleshooting that was required due to of the first results obtained.
