Abstract/Summary:

Within the scope of the project PVOPTI-Ray the influence of reflection and energy balance on the performance of building integrated photovoltaics (PV) in complex urban environment was investigated. Equally the influence of PV modules and of the energy conversion of solar energy at the PV module surface has an impact on micro climate and therefore also on pedestrians who are exposed to the radiation fluxes. The aim of this project was to find and adapt urban energy balance models to be used for optimized solutions for urban planning regarding the design of an urban canyon and the choice of materials as well as methods and techniques for optimizing building integrated PV, taking at the same time bioclimatic aspects into consideration.
