Abstract/Summary:


ZSW realized a 29 kWp PV façade based on CIGS technology on parts of its new office and laboratory building in Stuttgart, Germany. For research purposes a detailed monitoring system has been installed. Energy yield measurements based on a one-year period from the PV façade and open rack mounted PV are presented. The article also presents results of a simulation of the specific energy coverage by both PV façades and PV roofs. A detailed cost analysis from the building-owner´s perspective unveils potential for cost improvement in the realized system. Finally, a cost reduction scenario is being discussed.
