This study discusses the interplay of single-axis 2P photovoltaic tracker’s structure, optical yield, electrical performance and investment cost. The torque tube and the purlin/strut support structure both shade and reflect depending on the gap size and geometry chosen above the torque tube. The design affects the investment cost due to different steel tonnage and the operation. A small gap appears favorable.
