Photovoltaic cells need to get longer their operative life, in order to be competitive against the so-called polluting source. In particular, thin film technologies as CIGS suffer of degradation due to moisture ingress into the panel. Edge sealing tape applied additionally to a standard lamination foil used in the encapsulation process can limit the moisture permeation and degradation. In this paper we will show the performance of a new edge sealant B-DryTM on the life time in the damp heat test. More than 3000 hour have been guaranteed by this kind of component, consistently with an internal characterization and the modeling used for its designing. Also the electrical properties seem to be excellent compared to the encapsulant itself. The UV resistance has also been evaluated showing a very good performances.
