Abstract/Summary:


SolarFarmer is a new photovoltaic (PV) plant design and performance modelling software, developed by DNV GL [1]. Now that SolarFarmer is available to the PV community, we are publishing validation results, using operational data of commercial PV plants. So far, validation has been carried out for 6 sites of which 2 were excluded because there was insufficient site data. Good agreement has been found between actual and modelled production, with mean bias errors (MBE) of 0.4 % and root mean squared errors (RMSE) 13.1 % average for the 4 remaining sites. SolarFarmer validation continues as data from more PV plants become available or changes are made in the software and results will be published on regular basis.
