Abstract/Summary:

As the solar photovoltaic (PV)sector matures and establishesitselfin the competitive electricitymarket, continuous reduction of the levelized cost of energy (LCoE)remainsas important as ever.Predictive maintenance can help further reduce the LCoE,and thus itis slowly gaining the attentionofthe PV industry.Predictive maintenance follows along the digital transformation that the PV sector has undertakenby leveraging the data that PV systems produce to anticipate failures of critical components before they happen. Information of this kindwouldfurtherallowplanning and scheduling of maintenance taskstobe optimized towards reducing costs and downtime, thereby improving plant’s performance and profitability. Despite itspotential benefits, implementing predictive maintenanceposes several challenges thatwhilenot addressed, call itsfeasibility into question.
