Abstract/Summary:

We provide an analysis of monitoring data of photovoltaic systems in Germany for 2013. The data represents the potential yield, which PV systems should have reached last year. The comparison of the yield data results shows that more than 80 % of all PV systems in Germany do not reach their full potential due to defects from the planning, construction, and operating phases. We use yield and insolation data including the configuration of the PV system in 15-minute intervals and aggregated these data to monthly values. The data has been cleared up by a twostep algorithm to consider only PV systems without any malfunction in this time period. The evaluation of the yield represents the energy production of PV systems in Germany, which the systems were be able to achieve if the systems have been planned, built and operated professionally. During 2012 in many parts of Germany there was average insolation and thus a profitable year, 2013 shows a below-average solar year. The results are objectively verifiable and have no subjective influence. The significance analysis shows that for a sufficiently large number of evaluable PV systems, the statistical results reflect the real income of the solar systems very well.
