Abstract/Summary:


The solar cells that integrate Concentration Photovoltaic (CPV) systems are usually subjected to inhomogeneous illumination profiles which set specific current and temperature distributions on the device thus modifying its ohmic losses and consequently the I-V curve. For an accurate estimation of the CPV cell output under such inhomogeneous profile, we have developed an electric model that takes into account the ‘distributed diode effect’. This model is validated for a high efficiency silicon solar cell under different inhomogeneous illumination profiles and a range of operating temperatures.
