Abstract/Summary:

The aim of this work was to find a cost-efficient alternative interconnection process. A combination of high efficiency grooved solar cell interconnect wires, and an adhesive process replacing the standard soldering process was investigated. These grooved solar interconnect wires (light capturing ribbons, LCRTM of Ulbrich) increase the efficiency of solar cells and modules by reflecting more light back onto the surface. Additionally, the application of conductive adhesives (of SoltaBond) makes a good mechanical bonding as well as electrical conductivity between the grooved interconnect wires and the surface of a solar cell possible.
