Abstract/Summary:


In this study, we analyze the durability of field aged photovoltaic modules selected 10% from Korea's 4,500 PV sites constructed from 1980 to 2006 year. The standard of judgment for choosing research object is based on manufacturing company supplying most PV module in Korea, installation year and place. Mainly, the phenomenon of PV module’s degradation is corrosion in interconnected ribbon, insulation failure, de-lamination and discoloring of EVA Sheet. In some case, the breakage of bypass diode is discovered. Also, from 18 month installed PV site, the module has no apparent change of appearance. But the maximum power reduced by 1.6% to 3.5% at STC condition. For 4 years PV module, the slight corrosion and humidity permeation on solar cell surface and electrode is detected. This is a project "Durability investigation analysis of field aged PV module" sponsored by Korea government from 2007 to 2010 year and this is the first year of project.
