Abstract/Summary:


Power quality and reliability are two very important factors in electrical power supply, particularly for specific branches of industry. “Multifunctional Photovoltaic Inverters” with storage units at the direct current link of the photovoltaic inverter can substitute uninterruptible power supply systems. Installed in industrial facilities, this type of photovoltaic-battery-system can offer additional services such as energy management and peak shaving. This paper presents a thorough analysis of possible services under current German conditions. The most promising services are investigated with regard to the additionally generated profit for the stakeholders involved. With the presented analysis it is shown that this type of photovoltaic-battery-system can provide considerable added value in industrial facilities compared to conventionally available technologies.
