Abstract/Summary:


The objective of this research is the development of a solution for the waste water treatment using electrolytic process powered by solar photovoltaic installation. The electrocoagulation reactor, by using electricity, accelerates the agglutination process helping the separation of particles by floatation and sedimentation. The collected data shows that the current density (1.0 mA/cm2), energy per processed volume (2.18 kWh/m3) and total cost per volume (US$ 2.51/m3) is compatible with the literature and it is a viable economic option for water treatment for mineral and metal industries in the Southeast of Brazil by using solar energy source.
