Abstract/Summary:


This paper introduces a detailed study between carrier lifetime and wafer thickness in Czochralski-grown (Cz) crystalline silicon (c-Si) wafers which will later be processed into solar cells. Wafers are thinned to different thicknesses with a minimum of 54.8 µm via wet chemistry etching as carrier lifetime drops from around 3000 µs to lower than 500 µs. A negative correlation appears between the carrier lifetime and wafer thickness.
