Abstract/Summary:

Vehicle Integrated Photovoltaics seeks, through solar energy, to increase the autonomy of Electric Vehicle from a renewable and clean source. To know the viability of this technology, it is necessary to develop new studies and tools. Considering the important impact that the effect of shading has on the energy production of photovoltaic surfaces, this paper aims to propose strategies to address the study and its application in VIPV technology. Due to the dynamic behaviour of an Electric Vehicle and the variability of usages it may present, it is necessary to define reference scenarios to approach the study. Thanks to this work, it will be possible to know the solar resource on the surface of an Electric Vehicle in three different shading scenarios in order to, in future studies, analyse the increase in the autonomy of an Electric Vehicle over long road distances, to know the solar resource and energy generation of a fleet of vehicles parked around an office building during a working day or to estimate optimal city routes in terms of energy generation.
