Abstract/Summary:

Reduction in the silver paste consumption for PERC solar cell is a way to reduce cost in the solar cell production line. In this paper, trials for decreasing the Ag paste laydown for PERC solar cell by 20% is targetted by varying the metallization screen technical specifications and printing parameters. By changing the mesh design and finger opening of front finger screens, the paste laydown decreased from 65 mg to 55 mg. Also the efficiency is increased by 0,04% with knotless screen compared with conventional mesh screens. On the other hand mesh count and screen thickness is optimized and Ag paste consumption is decreased by 20% for conventional mesh busbar screens while the cell classification quality is not impact negatively. This indicates the potential of the metallization screen and printing parameter optimization to decrease the Ag paste laydown.
