Real operating data give a detailed view on the performance of different PV module technologies. meteocontrol is currently monitoring more than 15,000 PV plants with an installed peak power of about 1.8 GWp. Two main results are presented in this publication: On the one hand the performance gap between PV plants with CdTe modules and with crystalline resp. a-Si modules is closing. The progression of the performance ratio of crystalline and a- Si module is about 1 % per year. On the other hand PV plants with thin-film modules show a better performance and yield production in summer month due to a smaller temperature coefficient. Crystalline modules are performing better in winter months.
